  1. make some turkey....... um.... stove top is kind of like dressing but not as good..... I'm white.... i eat dressing on thanksgiving ... you know made of turkey parts and sometimes after being cooked in the turkey.....we also have some made not in the turkey because not everyone is okay with that now with the fear of ecoil and stuff....but really i go for the turkey dressing... ..... and sometimes i eat a box of stove top with my roomies for lunch between classes but never on thanksgiving ..... i'd have a little bit of everything..... somethings that are staples in your family some that are staples for his......... but if anyone else is in your area i'd have them make somethings as well because it sounds like you might be cooking for alot of people and some help could take the stress off of you and your fiance.....
  2. well we have a Breakfast casseole for bfast and for lunch Turducken (Turkey stuffed with a duck stuffed with corn bread dressing) (you buy on-line or at a local specialty meat store), ham (heavenly ham from my sis), sweet potato casserole, green bean and bacon roll-ups, homemade bread, carrot cake, pecan pie, and cheesecake.
  3. make a herb roasted turkey by mixing 1 stick of melted butter or margarine and 1tsp each of rosemary, thyme, parsley, salt and pepper and lemon juice and baste the entire turkey wit the mixture and keep mixture warm and baste the turkey every hour till golden brown... also get cranberrie sauce or jelly, make sweet potatoes with marshmellows, serve rolls and your dressing and their kind of dressing... but keep it simple and get everyone to help u and u will have a nice and comfortable meal i promise... good luck hon...
  4. Okay first of all, relax! Second of all Martha Stewart is like the everything about home and meals savior. She has a very nice part of her site dedicated to thanksgiving. She has four different meal ideas and other tips. I have provided the link - everybody loves Martha!
  5. My family is the same, my step dad's family is black and my Mom aalways makes the dinner now. She is lways feeling less than because my Grandma who is black can cook! You know what I mean- so my advice to my Mom is the same to you, just do what you know best and they will love you for all the time and effort. You seem very sweet to put on this dinner and I am sure they will love it. Now for a more direct answer- I think you should make it the way you grew up eating it. If they are coming to your house then make it your way. I think it would be neat to let them in to your family recipes and feel apart of your traditions. Good luck to you and if you need any help go to foodnetwork.com, they have great stuff on their site!
  6. Stove top?? Good lord...no no no! You will need to show your fiances family what real Thanksgiving food is. Oh, my heart hurts that anyone would consider Stove Top to be real food!! Eeeeek.
  7. cook what you and your family has and im sure they will enjoy are call you mother in law and ask her to make you a list of thing that they would like to have that way you could have both there hope this helps
  8. turkery dressing peas cranberry
  9. Please don't make this a race thing as it makes you sound ignorant. Not all white people eat stove top stuffing. Just like all backs are not great dancers. I know your trying to do a nice dinner for all to enjoy however almost everyone expects to eat Turkey, salad, potatoes, corn, and veggies of some sort on Thanksgiving If you have your own spin on It might be nice for his family to try something new. It not about the food it's about being together.
  10. This is a breeze. Why not have your guests bring in a covered dish for a pitch in. This way everyone can enjoy each other's company and you can use this as a springboard with a conversation like, "this is so good, can I have that receipe?"
