Thanksgiving dinner for 2?
So my husband and I are going to have a thanksgiving by ourselves this year, I have never made a thanksgiving dinner before. We have a small kitchen but we want it to be a nice dinner. what kinds of things should we make? How much? and we don't want it to take too long? What are some good ideas? Thanks!

- It would take a while, but it basically just roasts in the oven: What about doing a turkey breast. We always get the freebie turkey brest from our grocery store instead of the whole turkey. sides: mashed potatos (there are some good ones out there to buy for just heating up if you don't like to do it from scratch), stuffing?, green bean casserole
- well, you could go with a turkey breast, & more and more people are using cornish hens too. otherwise, don't be afraid to go traditional. just make smaller portions. mashed potatoes for 2, stuffing for two, etc. it's possible....heck, you can even get individually wrapped rolls now that you just need to pop 2 in the oven when you're ready. but be sure to go all out and get a whole pumpkin pie! have fun!
- The first time my husband and I spent the holidays by ourselves, I just made a turkey roll (I bought this pre-made), mashed potatoes, gravy, crispy steamed carrots, baby green English peas, tossed salad, Pillsbury croissant rolls, pecan pie (because he loves it), and apple pie (because we BOTH like it and it makes the house smell like the holidays). We had LOADS of leftovers, but at least I didn't have to cook again for a few days. We don't normally make that meal unless it is the holiday so it satisfied my need for "tradition." Good luck! My husband and I have found that after 7 years in this city without family, we actually enjoy our own version of the holidays. We love to spend the holidays with our families, but being on our own has benefits, too :)
- You can throw together a turkey dinner with dressing, canned cranberry sauce, green beans and potatoes (white and/or candied) in under thirty minutes. Buy a pie from the store and heat it up in the oven he will think you cooked all day.
- I'm totally a fan of the Honey Baked Ham Co. They have ham (obviously) and other meat that can be cooked however you like. I find that that's the easiest way to make sure you don't end up with too much meat. Maybe cook some home made mashed potatoes. I cook mine with a little garlic salt, fresh milk, butter and top it off with a little cheddar (I LOVE cheddar). Add some stuffing (stove top is great) and some veggies. It's simple but the best of Thanksgiving. Mrs. Smith makes a great pumpkin pie that tastes great served hot or cold (great or leftover midnight munchies)
- why all that work? why not just go out to eat? or order one from a store...save yourself the trouble and the dishes... otherwise consult betty crocker...cranberries with a 10 lb turkey
- Best to order a complete turkey dinner from Raleys. You get everything including desert. You can freeze leftovers in small plastic bags. Then you can have turkey sandwiches, make turkey pot pies and even use the bone for delicious turkey soup. There is no waste. All instructions are included for the main Thanksgiving turkey. You can go to the Kraft web site and get instructions for what to do with leftover turkey. Also Martha Stewart has a great receipe web site.
- You could make a small Turkey which wouldnt take long to cook since it is small sized, they are nice for leftover sandwiches and the such. Or roast a couple cornish hens. Make some mashed potatoes, glazed carrots, cranberry sauce and buy or make a pie. Light some candles and enjoy a quite stress free evening!
- I would bake 2 cornish game hens. My hubby loves them! (it's like his own personal little turkey) They're very easy--just unwrap and put in a baking dish, rub them with some olive oil and sprinkle with lemon pepper. I also bake sweet potatoes--put them in the same time on a pie plate or baking dish (they tend to drip when they're done--I found out the hard way), and top them with butter, cinnamon, a little maple syrup or brown sugar when they're done, a nice salad and your hubby's favorite dessert.
- Get a smoked turkey from Harry and David. It's a little pricey but all you have to do is heat it up.
