What are you doing to help people who will go hungry this Thanksgiving as many do everyday?
It's all about giving thanks for your family and what you have. If you can though I encourage any one who can to volunteer at a soup kitchen and keep all those who are less fortunate in your prayers. You can donate canned goods to a local Food Bank or money to an International Hunger Program such as Freedom from Hunger. There are millions of people out there who will go hungry on Thanksgiving as they do everyday. Not just people in underdeveloped countries around the world, but also right in the U.S. kids and others are straving. Many just getting only one meal a day. Two on rare occassions. The government now says 35 million Americans don't know where their next meal is going to come from, and that number includes 13 million children. That is the US alone. To me it is sad to see some people talking about how much they are going to eat and sleep during the Thanksgiving holidays while at the same time people right around the block and millions around the world will be starving and some they having no inkly or thought about what is going on and many who do really don't care or don't do anything in there power to help. After gorging and full food is wasted like it is as abundate as water while those lacking food can't afford to waste anything and despite that still wouldn't be enough to satisfy their hunger. When you think about it just a small act of kindness or some type such as a few canned goods would make a big difference in a family's life, especially at this time of year. Just wanted to give everyone something to think about. Just do what you can. It takes a collaborative effort. Thanks and have a safe and happy thanksgiving holiday. I grew up poor in Georgia now I am 19 getting a degree in microbiology and planning on working for the CDC soon but I know how it feels to be hungry and poor and its not great at all. so now I doing all I can as my part to try to alleviate hunger in the world.

- when I have enough or almost enough I share, every day a guy asks for 50 cents to buy some weed, I usually give him a buck
- I give to my local Rescue Mission.
- The same thing I do any other time of the year; I donate food, money, clothing, etc.. Sure was good to see it stated so eloquently tho. You have a Great Thanksgiving too.
- United Way was at work. Some donated, some did not. I did, what I could afford. They had raffle of prizes.
- Well said, and yes, we should all help out. For myself, I dropped off a turkey and a bag of potatos at the women's shelter this morning. Been doing it for years because so many women and children in those places have had a really tough time of it.
- Well, now that the Democrats have gotten the edge since the mid-term elections, I suggest we all act like good, caring Liberal Democrats, i.e.: We should all eat until we are about to burst and then send out good full of food thoughts. That should fix everything. Right? Isn't that how it works? Happy Thanksgiving!
- For the past two years I had volunteered at the Nashville Union Rescue mission. I can't this year... I have a 5-mile race tomorrow morning. The race is to support the homeless though.
- i have been helping the cancer center raise money and asking people to give to the cancer center bc people there are always going with out bc they need treatment more than food they think so you can also donate to your local cancer center too they need blqankets for the patients and head pillow to keep them comfortable please think of them too exspecially the ones with kids they need our help along with others
- I have found a way that anyone who can view this site can help. Go to http://helpthehungry.batcave.net and click on the link at the top of the page that says Click to Help then click on some of the links on the site. The revenue from the ads on the site help work toward putting an end to world hunger. And it doesn't have to cost you anything to help.
