I am hosting my first big Thanksgiving dinner this year. I am looking for some menu ideas...?
I am looking for some menu ideas that are new takes on the originals. I want to have serve some impressive desserts and side dishes. And maybe have a really stylish centerpiece. Any ideas?

- When I was young my mother would also make this homemade things that you could easily buy.. here is her menus ususally for the Thanksgiving evening: Turkey (simple, like everyone else) Cranberries Mash Potatoes Peas Gravy Salad (with the usual tomatoes, if you perfer, monzerella cheese, small grated carrots, and cucumbers) Cinnamon Pie Apple Pie this wonderful chocolate mousse and the center pieces can just be 2 tall candles. people all really care about is the food! make sure there is a table cloth. Its just a look to make the table look more appealing. have a good time! :)
- I live in Australia now so we don't do Thanksgiving. As a child though I always remember my mother's fruit salad. Apples, banana, grapes, walnuts, marchino cherries. For the dressing she would use Miracle Whip and whipped cream (and later years, Cool Whip..which is brilliant in this recipe) and add just a bit of the marchino cherry juice to the whipped cream. Try it .. its wonderful!!!!!!
- Dear Sarafaith7, For Thanksgiving 2002, my ex-husband's sibiling, respective spouses and children decided to celebrate Thanksgiving at my house. We are from Mexico. I decided to make tamales, and everyone loved the idea. Something out of the traditional was welcomed. Good thing I made a lot, because everyone ended taking home :-o Maybe you might include in your Thanksgiving dinner menu something that is not always in the traditional T. dinner menu, for the guests that want to experience something different that night. They might ended loving it too. Good Luck, Bright Light :-D
